How To Create a Podcast

If you are ready to get heard, seen and noticed, it's time to activate your creative super powers. We are helping to make the process as simple as possible with this step by step guide.

1. Concept

Establish your concept

Before you can start recording and or live stream your podcast, it is important to develop a solid concept for your show. Whether you want to start a podcast about spilling the tea on celebrity news or you are an expect giving sound advice, how you structure your show will depend on a lot of factors.

Once you have spent time considering the topics, you have to also decide on these key elements:

Name

When you do your research and decide on a name that will be easy for your audience to find, include some important topic keywords, that will also reflect your personality or the voice of your business.

Format

Here, you will need to decide on what kind of format will work for your show. Will it be a solocast, interviews, mukbangs, conversations with friends or narrative style podcast, in short.... what's the vibe of the show?

Length

While you might be thinking about what would be the best length for your show, there really isn't a single length of time that's ideal. Instead of concentrating on a certain time frame, in the beginning, instead focus on creating quality content by getting to the point in a focused way.

2. Planning

Planning your podcast content

Now the pieces of the puzzle are coming together for a podcast, you will have to begin thinking about exactly what your audience are going to hear, see and how often they will tune in to the show. To stress a universally known concept, develop an organized podcast planning routine doing it on a regular basis.

Drafting an episode outline

Once you have established your brand, you can now start thinking about how to structure an episode outline. To ensure that your content is high quality, looks interesting and structured properly, it then becomes more important when you are writing full-blown scripts for storytelling, narrative shows or the likes.

Phases of Planning

There are three distinct phases of planning an episode in order to throw out all your ideas and comb through them for the right ones.

Brainstorming

When you sit down and think about what you want for your podcast to include, just ask yourself some of these questions and answer them carefully to kick things off:
*What is the purpose of this podcast?
*What interested bit of information will stick with the audience?
* Live stream or just pre-record?
*What platforms to utilized?
*Have an co-host? Guests?
*Intro video?

Research

Regardless of what your podcast format will be, it will be likely that research will be a key element in sharing accurate, interesting and informative stories. Find answers to these questions below to get started:
*What subject matter do I need to become more versed in?
*Are there any specific stories or events I need to know all about?
*What do I need to know about my co-host or guest to be prepared?

Outline

So, now that you have done the work required to write an outline, let's get to it. These are the sections that we suggest putting together in an order that is organized and complete episode:
*Introduction
*Episode summary
*Guest Intro
*Main Topic
*Secondary topics
*Conclusion

3. Setup

What is the look of the show?

You don't need to invest in any equipment such as mics, cameras, mixers or computers needed to broadcast the production. However, we have a few furniture arrangements  below that can accommodate most podcast needs so we will need your input on that. What vibe are we going for.

What About A Logo and Cover Art?

One great way for people to remember your podcast is with great logo and cover art for the podcast. When people go to search for a new podcast on platforms such as Apple Podcast and Google Podcast that may interest them, they are first greeted with two things, the cover art for the podcast show and the title of the show. If you decide to design one, think about how the cover art will connect with the topics of the show. Also research related podcasts and see the art works that are out there. We also have a in-house graphic designer that can create a logo and cover art. Thinking about taking professional photos for the cover art, we also have photographers. However, if the budget is tight, there are tons of websites that you can get all of your graphic designs from such as canva.com or fiverr.com that's sure not to break the bank.

How Will the Show Start & End?

Does your show have a dope intro video that gets your YouTube and Facebook audience? What about that music you want to play so bad, you have the rights to use that song/beat? Coming up with an intro is very important since it can be the deciding factor for new listeners if they continue listening/watching the show. Make sure that the intro effectively communicates what the podcast is about. Now we do have some good news if you don't have an intro or music to use because we have a professional studio with producers ready to create that awesome intro video, rather we recording that song you have been writing or select from our library of beats for lease and exclusives. Let us help you with the entire process, from idea to releasing or even live streaming the podcast.

Publishing & Distribution

Just like we have mentioned earlier, planning is key for this step if you have been following along is vital that we are prepared. Questions you will have to ask is

  1. Will the podcast be audio only or with video as well?
  2. What platforms will you publish your podcasts such as Spotify, Apple Podcast etc?
  3. Will it be live streamed to Facebook & YouTube or just pre-recorded to be released at a later date?
  4. If going Live, will you need to interact with audience like asking questions in the chat, remote video call-ins?
